Our Stallion is a double cream dilute, a smoky cream, meaning he will always contribute a cream gene to his offspring. Below are the possibilties of breeding your champagne mare and other single cream mares to Color Quest with our stallion always contributing either a red or a black gene in addition to a cream. Although I have taken into consideration the color genetics as described by today's available knowledge and standards, this list in no way constitutes and absolute and is not intended to do so. There are too many unknowns as of yet and other color genetic factors to be exact at this point in time. This should be viewed as simply a basic guideline of possibilties. Therefore, if your mare is: Amber Champagnes may carry both a black and a red gene in addition to the Champagne gene. They may also carry an agouti gene, or not. Depending on these factors, the color potentials are as follows: Gold Champagne Cream, Classic Champagne Cream, Amber Champagne Cream, Palomino, Buckskin, Smoky Black.
Gold Champagnes carry a red gene in addition to the Champagne gene. They may or may not carry an agouti gene. Depending on these factors, the color potentials are as follows: Gold Champagne Cream, Classic Champagne Cream, a Palomino, or a Smoky Black.
Classic Champagnes can carry both a red and a black gene in addition to the Champagne gene. They may or may not carry an agouti gene. Depending on these factors, the color potentials are as folows: Classic Cream Champagne, Gold Cream Champagne, Palomino, Smoky Black, Amber Cream Champagne, Buckskin.
Any Cream Champagne will carry the cream gene making them a single cream dilute. Depending on which type of Cream Champagne your mare is, will determine the ultimate foal color. So in addition to the color possibilties above, the basic additional color possibilties will be: A smoky cream, cremello, perlino, or a homozygous Cream Champagne.
Palominos carry a red gene and may or may not carry an agouti gene along with their cream gene. The color possibilties are: Palomino, Cremello, Smoky Black, Perlino, Smoky Cream, Buckskin.
Buckskins may carry both a black and a red gene and while they carry an agouti gene, it may not be contributed to the foal as with their cream gene. The color possibilities are: Perlino, Smoky Cream, Cremello, Palamino, Buckskin, Smoky Black.
Smoky Blacks may carry both a black and a red gene in addition to their cream gene. The color possibilities are: Perlino, Smoky Cream, Cremello, Palomino, Smoky Black.
